Island Blog
Man, remember blogs? I've never been a big journal-er, but when I left the country in 2009 to spend two years on a remote Pacific island with little to no internet access, I needed a way to update all the people back home wondering if I was still alive in one fell swoop. I wrote some letters and had some Skype sessions (remember Skype?!) but I saved those mostly for my lovely mom.. And so, a blog was the best option for keeping friends and family updated. It was really a stream of consciousness, and I'm shocked to look back at how good my writing was between the ages of 22-24. My only regret is that I didn't put the same compositional effort into my high school deadjournal (LiveJournal for emo kids) (no, I absolutely will not tell you my username).
I'm also shocked at that list of books I read... for pleasure! Those close to me know that I no longer read things for pleasure. I don't care what you think about that. I just don't like sitting down with a book. Oh, you think my mind would be changed if I just read this one book you really love? Okay, I'll put it on my list! [scribbles nonsense on a piece of paper and throws it away] Thanks!
Anyway, I'm proud of this way I captured my time on this little island, Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, which I'm now so homesick for. I poakpoake uhk, Pohnpei. I men pwurahla Pohnpei pwonget.
